Anviz Pushes FaceDeep Biometrics for Businesses Looking to Reopen During COVID-19

Anviz is pitching its contactless FaceDeep 5 facial recognition terminals to schools and businesses that are searching for a safe way to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic. The FaceDeep 5 and the FaceDeep 5 IRT debuted in October, offering mask detection and thermal screening in addition to facial recognition.

According to Anviz, it is those public health features that make the solution particularly appealing at the current moment. The solution can send an alert whenever it spots someone who is not wearing a mask, or whenever it detects someone with an elevated temperature. As a result, the platform can help enforce mask requirements at facilities like schools and offices, which will in turn reduce the risk of spread of COVID-19.

The FaceDeep 5 terminals utilize a dual camera setup, and also support basic attendance management and access control. The platform leverages BioNANO facial recognition for authentication, and comes equipped with CrossChex software for timekeeping purposes. Other potential applications include hospitals, government facilities, and public-facing retail outlets.

With FaceDeep, Anviz is trying to meet the rising demand for contactless security solutions during the pandemic. In that regard, it is one of several companies now offering thermal screening and mask detection, joining a list that already includes technology providers like CyberLink and EyeLock. The NIST has noted that facial recognition systems have gotten better at dealing with masks since more people started wearing them in response to COVID-19.
