Mifare is a format of contactless radio frequency RFID identification cards from NXP Semiconductors (Netherlands). They operate in the 13.56 MHz frequency range and store a unique identifier. They also have additional memory that can be overwritten. Mifare cards and key fobs are the second most popular type of ACS identifiers in Ukraine after EM Marine. It costs a little more, but unlike EM Marine, it has copy protection.
At the moment, only NXP Semiconductors, as well as Infineon, which bought a license to produce these cards, officially has the right to produce Mifare 1K EV1 chips. However, there are a large number of “non-original” cards on the market, which are inferior in reliability in terms of their parameters, but in terms of cost, these cards are much cheaper than the “original” ones.
