Features of outdoor cameras
To equip a home or business with CCTV cameras and achieve full coverage of the property, you will need both indoor and outdoor CCTV cameras installed inside the house or building and around the outside of the facility, respectively.
The main difference between indoor and outdoor home security cameras is their ability to withstand various negative environmental conditions.
Outdoor CCTV cameras are manufactured to very high quality and durability standards to withstand the phenomena and weather conditions such as rain, humidity, snow, extreme heat and cold, even wind. They are also usually shockproof as well as dustproof to keep out dirt and other elements. Outdoor cameras for a summer cottage or home almost always have an IP rating - a designation that accurately determines how waterproof or shockproof they are.
In many cases, anti-vandal outdoor CCTV cameras are also made of metal, as they are more likely to be tampered with than indoor devices.
Outdoor CCTV cameras are generally much larger than outdoor cameras because they have a more durable, often waterproof design.
Design and dimensions are not the only parameters that differentiate indoor and outdoor CCTV cameras. They also differ in their ability to see under dynamic lighting conditions. Outdoor night vision cameras have a wider dynamic range and the ability to see in low light conditions. Devices with IR illumination also give a clear picture in flashes of light and in total darkness.
In most cases, a camera designed solely for indoor use will not be a good choice for outdoor use, as it simply will not meet the same standards for waterproofing and durability. Outdoor CCTV cameras are suitable for indoor use, but spoil the interior, as they are unnecessarily bulky.
