CCTV cameras are an important component of modern security systems. As a rule, their design includes a matrix in which an image is formed, a lens that focuses the image, an element that processes a video signal, and a durable shock-resistant housing.

There are many types of CCTV cameras, but in the modern world of technology, WI-FI cameras are popular.

Features of wireless WI-FI cameras

A WI-FI security camera is a digital camera that works using the principles of Internet Protocol (IP) networks instead of analog electrical signals. The Internet is an example of an IP network and uses IPv4.

The industry standard protocols for digital cameras with WI-FI are the Open Video Interface Forum Specification (ONVIF) and the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP).

Such cameras are capable of operating independently of each other. Most of today's models have a built-in mini-computer. They can work in either centralized or decentralized modes, or both (if the camera is powerful enough).

In centralized mode, the cameras are connected to and controlled by the NVR. Digital cameras connect to the NVR directly or indirectly via Ethernet cables or wirelessly via Wi-Fi.

In decentralized mode, cameras with WI-FI are not connected to the NVR that controls them. Each camera has its own IP address and can be accessed by any other device on the local area network (LAN).

Most advanced digital cameras can operate in both modes simultaneously. They can be part of the NVR system and at the same time have direct access to any other device on the local network.
